Tiramisù

In pregnancy: Only if… While breastfeeding: Safe

Rare, but serious if it happens

What makes it safe

Only with pasteurised or no eggs

Why

Typically contains raw eggs: salmonella risk. Avoid, except pasteurised versions (rare) or egg-free recipes.

It changes after the birth

You can eat this again while breastfeeding: the pregnancy-specific risks (listeria, toxoplasmosis, salmonella) no longer apply after birth. Keep normal food hygiene.

Instead

  • Egg-free tiramisù
  • Packaged pasteurised tiramisù
